National Career Development Association - A large listing of free, current, and credible online resources that are useful to career counselors, coaches, and specialists as they work with clients. The point is to list the best resources, as determined by a group of capable volunteers, not necessarily all possible ones.  

Massachusetts Health Promotion Clearinghouse - Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Clearinghouse develops and distributes materials on a wide variety of topics including teen labor laws and workplace safety.  You can create an account and order multiple copies of booklets, posters, etc.

Skills to Pay the Bills: Mastering Soft Skills for the Workplace - A curriculum developed by ODEP focused on teaching "soft" or workforce readiness skills to youth, including youth with disabilities. Created for youth development professionals as an introduction to workplace interpersonal and professional skills, the curriculum is targeted for youth ages 14 to 21 in both in-school and out-of-school environments. The basic structure of the program is comprised of modular, hands-on, engaging activities that focus on six key skill areas: communication, enthusiasm and attitude, teamwork, networking, problem solving and critical thinking, and professionalism.

Disability Employment Publications - Order FREE disability employment guides for employers, job-seekers, educators, and employment service providers. Job-seekers with disabilities can find information to develop their skills and find the support they need to get a job. See the 'Career Resources for SWD' for more information.

DIGITAL LITERACY / BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS

Google Applied Digital Skills Curriculum - Teach and learn practical digital skills using a free project-based video curriculum.

Northstar Digital Literacy Project defines basic skills needed to perform tasks on computers and online. The ability of adults to perform these tasks can be assessed through online, self-guided modules. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in ten main areas: Basic Computer Use, Internet, Windows Operating System, Mac OS, Email, Microsoft Word, Social Media, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Information Literacy.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION:

Family Childcare Assistant Orientation: This online course provides information necessary for employment in a family/home childcare setting.

Early Education and Care in Inclusive Settings, Core Competencies: This course is designed to provide early childhood education professionals with the knowledge and skills to assess their own level in terms of the eight core competencies, across the infant-toddler, preschool and out-of-school age range.

Early Learning for Infant and Toddler Guidelines: This course will provide opportunity to use the Massachusetts Early Learning Guidelines to support your work with infants and toddlers. 

Preschool Learning Guidelines and Standards: This course is designed to provide early childhood education professionals with the knowledge and skills to teach each content area according to the preschool learning guidelines, or state standards.

These are just a few of the basic trainings available through the MA Dept. of Early Education and Care.

 
HEALTHCARE:

The Healthcare Virtual Career Network initiative is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration under the leadership of the American Association of Community Colleges.  They offer basic workforce refresher courses, Healthcare Information Technology courses, Health Science and Terminology courses, and links to multiple other resources for online learning.

Ted-Ed is TED’s youth and education initiative. TED-Ed’s mission is to spark and celebrate the ideas of teachers and students around the world. Everything we do supports learning — from producing a growing library of original animated videos , to providing an international platform for teachers to create their own interactive lessons.

GCFLearnFree.org is a free online educational website focusing on technology, job training, reading, and math skills. The site is a program of Goodwill Industries of Eastern NC Inc. (GIENC) and the Goodwill Community Foundation Inc. (GCF). All content is created in Raleigh, North Carolina.

PowerMyLearning is a national non-profit that leverages technology to strengthen the learning relationships among students, teachers, and families so that all students can succeed. Our work fosters growth in teachers as instructional leaders, in parents as support partners, and in students as learners who can meet the challenge of high academic standards. We partner with schools, districts, and after-school hubs to provide teachers with coaching and students and parents with devices and training.

MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are online courses available to anyone with a computer and Internet connection. They offer students a way to learn in a setting similar to an online class, but are usually loosely structured and can be accessed without paying tuition or committing to an academic program. Whether a student should sign up for a MOOC will depend on his or her academic and professional goals. To learn just for fun or to get a certificate for a small fee, MOOCs are ideal.
